1 <br />Resolution No. 3088 <br />A Resolution Recognizing the Month of June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month <br />in the City of Anacortes <br />Whereas the City of Anacortes recognizes that one of our greatest strengths is the diversity of <br />our community; and <br />Whereas members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) <br />community reside throughout our city, are employed by our city, are public servants that <br />represent our city on committees and the City Council, and are our neighbors, teachers, first <br />responders, business owners, youth, and beloved friends and family; and <br />Whereas members of the LGBTQ+ community contribute to our city’s success in any number of <br />immeasurable ways; and <br />Whereas all members of our community deserve to live without the fear of discrimination, <br />prejudice, or violence that members of the LGBTQ+ community disproportionally suffer from; <br />and <br />Whereas the City of Anacortes community recognizes and celebrates our obligation to uphold <br />the dignity of all people and to protect the most vulnerable among us; and <br />Whereas the City Council has recognized through Resolution 2060 our commitment to <br />maintaining Anacortes as a welcoming, safe, and just community for everyone—not just in word, <br />but in deed; and <br />Whereas the month of June is celebrated throughout our nation in commemoration of the <br />Stonewall Uprising of June 28, 1969 that marked the beginning of the LGBTQ+ rights <br />movement. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anacortes that the <br />month of June is hereby recognized as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in the City of Anacortes and all <br />residents of Anacortes are encouraged to join in celebrating the diversity of our whole <br />community. <br />INTRODUCED, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />ANACORTES this 23rd day of May, 2022. <br />CITY OF ANACORTES: <br />Anthony Young, Mayor Pro-Tem <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: C2E5BD28-D73E-4A60-9E7E-6B2170BF7061
