DocuSign Envelope ID:624F15C0-DC52-4CFB-B2D4-C64E36E24F06 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 3078 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANACORTES TO <br /> ADOPT A REDISTRICTING PLAN CONCERNING THE CITY COUNCIL WARD <br /> BOUNDARIES <br /> WHEREAS, RCW 29A.76.010 requires municipal organizations to evaluate their elected <br /> officials' district boundaries after each federal decennial census to ensure they meet the criteria <br /> and intent outlined in the statute; and <br /> WHEREAS, The City has evaluated the status of the Census results against the existing Council <br /> Ward boundaries and have found the existing boundaries to meet the intent of the statute in that <br /> the existing populations within all three ward boundaries are less than 2/10ths of one percent <br /> different than the ideal populations; and <br /> WHEREAS, The ideal population of each Ward is the Census total City population of 17,637 <br /> divided by 3, which is the number of council wards, giving an ideal population of 5,879 for each <br /> ward; and <br /> WHEREAS, The City Council first reviewed the results of the Redistricting evaluation at the <br /> March 28th, 2022 City Council meeting, whose comments at that time supported that the existing <br /> Ward boundaries are found to meet state law and City Council expectations; and <br /> WHEREAS, The City has published a plan which has been made accessible on the City of <br /> Anacortes website, and made available in hard copy if requested, and held a public hearing and <br /> taken public comment with proper notice as required by RCW 29A.76.010; and <br /> WHEREAS, City Council finds that the current Council Ward boundaries meet the needs of the <br /> Citizens of Anacortes and the requirements of State Law. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Anacortes, <br /> Washington, that the City of Anacortes will continue to use the existing Council Ward <br /> boundaries as identified in the attached Ward map. <br /> INTRODUCED, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF ANACORTES on this 25th day of April, 2022. <br /> MATTHEW C.
