DocuSign Envelope ID: F98B8FE8-BF5B-4111-8436-B124C676F07B <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 4001 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANACORTES, <br /> SETTING THE CITY'S YEAR 2022 PROPERTY TAX REGULAR LEVY INCREASE <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anacortes attest that the population of the <br /> City of Anacortes is more than ten thousand; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 35A.33.135, the City Council is required to determine and <br /> fix by ordinance the amount to be raised by ad valorem taxes; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 84.55.120 the City Council has properly given notice of <br /> the public hearing held November 8, 2021, to consider the City's current expense budget <br /> for the 2022 calendar year, including a 1%property tax increase, and <br /> WHEREAS, the after hearing and after duly considering all relevant evidence and <br /> testimony presented, the City Council has determined that the City of Anacortes requires <br /> an increase in property tax revenue from the previous year, in addition to that resulting <br /> from the addition of new construction and improvements to property and any increase in <br /> value of state-assessed property, in order to discharge the expected expenses and <br /> obligations of the City, and <br /> WHEREAS, RCW 84.55.120 requires that the increase in the property tax levy over the <br /> prior year be stated both as to dollars and percentage. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, the City of Anacortes does ordain: <br /> Section 1: the City Council of the City of Anacortes does hereby fix and establish a <br /> regular property tax levy increase for 2022 in the amount of$53,857, which is a <br /> percentage increase of one percent(1%) from the previous year. <br /> Section 2: Effective date. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after five (5) days <br /> after its passage and publication, as required by law. <br /> ADOPTED, at the regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Anacortes,this 22nd <br /> day of November 2021, by a majority of the members. <br /> City of Anacortes, Washington <br /> BY: <br /> Laurie Gere, Mayor <br />
