RESOLUTION NO. 1965
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANACORTES
TEMPORARILY CLOSING MULTIPLE ROADS IN SKYLINE BETWEEN JUNE 28 and
JULY 8, 2016
WHEREAS, the City Councils is the road authority for the City of Anacortes; and
WHEREAS, a large road maintenance project is planned from June 28 through July 8,
2016, which will require closures of the roadway sections described in Appendix A; and
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby determines that vehicular traffic and/or parked cars
in these roadway sections will not allow the work to occur, and additionally would pose a
threat to public safety and would be dangerous to traffic and workers; and
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby determines it is necessary to provide a traffic-free
and parking-free area to allow the project to be completed, to protect the public, and to
facilitate traffic safety; and
WHEREAS, section 47.48.010 RCW gives the City Council authority to restrict or close
city streets.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Anacortes,
Washington, that the proposed road closure is narrowly tailored to serve this significant
governmental interest of allowing a necessary public works project to be completed and
to provide for public safety in a hazardous work zone.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anacortes, Washington
that the roads or portions of roads described on the attached Appendix A will be closed
on the dates shown on the attached Appendix A, at which time barricades and signs
may be placed in the area by the Anacortes Public Works Department. At the end of
each day, all barricades and signs will be removed.
Resolution 1965 Page 1
