HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-05-16 City Council Minutes ApprovedAnacortes City Council Minutes - May 16, 2022 Call to Order Mayor Matt Miller called to order the Anacortes City Council meeting of May 16, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. Councilmembers Jeremy Carter, Ryan Walters, Anthony Young, Christine Cleland -McGrath, Carolyn Moulton, Bruce McDougall and Amanda Hubik were present. Councilmember Moulton participated in the meeting remotely via Zoom. No Councilmembers were absent. Pledge of Allegiance The assembly joined in the Pledge of Allegiance. Announcements and Committee Reports Mayor Miller provided a Covid update; a 32nd and M Roundabout project update; introduced Chad Pruitt as the new Police Captain, and Rob Leetz as the new Police Sergeant. Proclamation: National Police Week Mayor Miller provided a proclamation recognizing national Police Week for 2022. Finance Committee Mr. Young reported from the Committee meeting held the previous Wednesday. The topics discussed included an update from Parks Director Jonn Lunsford on the upcoming Skate Park project and a potential request for a budget request to supplement public donations for the new park. There was also discussion on the City's annual report, and the OpenGov software implementation. Public Works Committee Mr. Walters reported on the Public Works Committee meeting held earlier in the evening. Topics discussed included the upcoming 2019 Stormwater update, high water pressure events including a water main break, and the cross connection control program. Public Comment Mayor Miller invited the public to comment on any item not on the agenda. Several citizens commented about upcoming National Pride Month, and encouraged Mayor and Council to consider recognizing by proclamation National Pride Month. Consent Agenda Mr. Carter moved, seconded by Mr. Young, to approve the following Consent Agenda items. The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. Minutes of May 9, 2022 Approval of claims in the amount of $1,780,201.67 Street Fair Application: Fueling Education Fun Run - BY Sinclair - Puget Sound Refiner° Other Business Shoreline Master Program Periodic Update - Introduction Anacortes City Council Minutes - May 16, 2022 Assistant Planning Director Libby Grage presented a Periodic Update to the Shoreline Master Program (SMP). Also participating in the presentation was Alex Capron, of the Watershed Company, who the City has contracted with, to assist in the SMP periodic update. Various comments were made by City Council members. Mayor Miller invited members of the public to comment on the periodic update, and multiple citizens provided comments.
