Permit Center
P.O.Box 547, Anacortes, WA 98221
Attn: Don Measamer
Ref: Repair and Renovation, 2244&23' Street Units
Sir,
We are in receipt of your February 15 letter to Anacortes Housing Authority regarding your plans
check for subject project and would like to make clarifications and corrections to the documents
as follows:
1. Mr. Steve Jaffray of ARA will be contacting you to discuss sidewalk extension and dumpster
location.
2. Barrier symbol will be white on blue background.
3. This 2-hour fire resistive wall detail was copied verbatim from the original construction
drawings. Its presence on our documents was to show the Contractor what is there now and its
method of construction so he can restore it to its original configuration when interior GWB is
removed and reinstalled.
4. The Contract amount is $818,676, broken down as follows:
Bldg 5 (903 22od Street) $139,175.00 -
Bldg 6A (909 2V Street) $116,907.00—
Bldg 6B (903 22°d Street) $161,443.
Bldg 7B (904 23'a Street) $147,361.00
Bldg 8 (910 23rd Street) $253,790.00
5. All laundry rooms have fans, see Sheets M1, 2, and 3, Partial Utility Room Plan, 2-3BR(EF3)
and 1"Floor 4BR Plan (EFl) and Schedule on MO.
6. Deck is supported by(2) 4x4 posts per Detail 9 on Sheet C4 (callout was omitted from plan
view).
7. Concur that all walls and floor/ceiling assemblies separating units shall be 1-hour, continuous
behind tubs, cabinets, etc. Penetrations will be firestopped. Firestopping is required and described
by Specification Section 07270.
8. Concur that boxes in 1-hour walls shall be listed as 1-hour, separated on opposite sides of wall
by mite. 24 inches. See also Spec Section 16050.
9. Concur that fire stopping is required at top plates of party walls, at void spaces and soffits not
to exceed 10 feet.
10. Concur that floor/ceiling assembly also shall be draft stopped.
11. Concur that penetrations of floor/ceiling assemblies shall be fire stopped/draft stopped.
12. Concur that shafts shall be fire stopped.
13. Note that the washer/dryer alcove is open on front side, with full louvered doors. We will use
1-hour fire resistive construction in this area.
FEB. -23' OMEN 09 : 52 ORB ORGANIZATION ING TEL 425-226-9115 P. 003
14. This is a typo. Buildings are Group R-3 occupancy.
15. Contractor will be directed to bolt ledger to each stud with (2) 5/16" x 5" lag bolts with
washer, and to provide 2"x2"x3/16" plate washer at foundation anchor bolts. Vinyl siding catalog
data will be submitted by the Contractor as required by the Specifications.
16. We will direct the Contractor to provide a small, inexpensive expansion tank at each water
heater(see attached catalog cut). PRV's with an integral bipass are not a common item and are
expensive. Also the check valve(&) in the domestic water supply system would not allow backfeed
of any pressure generated.
17. Both the water heater and the furnace listed on Sheet MO are approved for installation in a
closet. Combustion air for both is drawn from the interior space. Closet door is louvered, sized
IAW Table 7-A of UMC.
18. Floor drain trap primers are required by specifications, see Section 15440, para 3.01/i
With your concurrence we propose to provide your plan check letter and this letter to the
Contractor and the Anacortes Housing Authority as a revision/clarification to the Contract
Documents, directing the Contractor to incorporate the above directions. We believe this will
accomplish the desired results without resorting to drawing revisions and reissue. We respectfully
request that you issue building permits to the Contractor on that basis.
Sincerely,
Th Ojg t n..Inc.
