Dear Mrs. Schwenk:
Thank you for your May 15, 1990 letter. I have reviewed this issue with the
City Attorney. It is our considered opinion that temporary absences such as
that you have documented in your May 15, 1990 letter, will not endanger your
grandfathered use of keeping horses on your land.
Given the sensitivity of this issue, we very much appreciate your keeping us
advised of the situation in writing.

Dear Mr. Mince:
I am writing to you after talking with Mr. Frank concerning the
use of the property which we own adjoining our land at Skyline, We
have kept horses on this land for twenty-one years and plan to continue
to use it for this purpose. However, this summer one horse will be
at a training stable in Snohomish and will hopefully go to the Quarter
horse World Show in November. Our other horse is going to be used by
a thirteen year old for her horse for the 4-H program and she has
hopes of attending the Puyallup Fair in September.
We would like to apply for a variance until October 1st, 1990.
If this is not possible, will you please advise us as to the exact rules
in this situation, i.e. if I bring my gelding home every fourth weekend,
would that keep the land use open for horses?
We would appreciate hearing from you and will be glad to answer
any questions.
