Dear Mr . Veal : Please consider this letter as permission to discharge the waste from your tumbler into the Anacortes sanitary sewer system. Per- mission to discharge tumbler waste into the system, however, does not include discharge of the Ene-Brown dip into the system. From the information which you supplied us with regard to the tum- bler media and detergent, it is our determination that the tumbler media is approximately 30% alumina and the rest is polyester plastic. The chemical reports from Kramer Industries indicate that there is no health hazard from this media. The detergent being used is listed as being biodegradable containing soda ash. The residue from the tumbler media and detergent is readily settleable and should pose no problems to the City. As we have had a couple of comments from the Snelson Anvil opera- tion with regard to discharging the tumbler media and detergent on to the ground and also some comments from our own Water Depart- ment crews with regard to water filling a meter box next to Snelson, ' it would he appropriate for you to hook this waste to the sewer system as soon as possible. If you contemplate making a separate connection for this particular effluent , then a $15. 00 sewer in- spection permit would be required. We would not charge any ad- ditional for a separate hookup as you already have one in oper- ation at present . However , a new hookup would require inspection by the Building Inspector and thus the $15 . 00 fee.
