Building inspectors have been at the site for various inspections prior to May 15,2001,the day the
contractor called for a framing inspection. At that time the plumbing rough in,the mechanical rough in,
and the electrical had not been completed.
May 15th--several of the listed corrections relate to over boring of studs or larger notching of studs than
allowed by code. Repairs to these members were required to provide minimum structural integrity of the
stud walls. The risers exit stairs from the screening rooms were found to exceed the allowable tolerances
provided for in code.
May 16th—The electrical rough-in inspection was completed by L&I and approved for cover.
May 22nd—The contractor called for re-inspection of the framing. Most of the items were corrected. The
stair deficiencies were not corrected at that time.
Friday May 25th—The fire alarm plans were submitted for review.
Monday May 28th—Review of the fire alarm plans was completed and ready for permit issue.
Thursday May 31 St—The alarm contractor picked up the fire alarm permit.
June 5th—L&I electrical inspection of the alarm system was completed with approval for cover.
June 11`h—Contractor called for and received the insulation inspection. The insulation was found ok for
cover and,with the exception of the stairs,the framing corrections were completed.
To our knowledge,there has not been any significant amount of framing rip out. Repair of the studs was
accomplished by sistering new members alongside the damaged members.
The stairs may require reframing to bring the rise and run to within the 3/8-inch tolerance required by code
and to stay within the maximum 7-inch rise and minimum 11-inch run required by code.
Throughout this project staff has worked to accommodate the tight time schedule. If further information is
needed to answer the questions raised,please contact the building department.
The only fire inspection was for about 2/3 of the fire sprinkler system about 2 or 3 weeks ago. That portion
of the system passed. As of this date the remainder of the system has not been tested and no request for
such inspection has been received by either department. To better evaluate this complaint it would be very
helpful if staff could review the list of"23 items".
