Question: Question on a correction notice from Groc city inspector
on the method and materials that Titan Drywall is using on

1 hr.walls and 2 hr. wall and shafts. Inspector wants to
see approval of what Damian of Titan drywall normally
uses ie. conventional fire taping ? Groc the inspector has
called out to use EZ tape fire tape. EZtape is not called out
in fire manual or UL listing and is not a good product and
would fall off surface over time in Drywaller exsperience?

Response: That is an acceptable by the city. Go ahead and tape the
way the architect specified.

I recommend that Conventional taping would be paper
Response: tape imbedded in taping compound just like every job we
have ever done. this is what UL listing refers too. I do not
want to use EZ tape. I do not recommend this.

Dale,
Is it possible to have Carletti Architects write up that it is ok for us to do conventional fire taping? Grock the city
inspector has called out that we need to use EZtape firetape. EZtape is not called out in the fire manual or UL listing. My
personal opinion is EZtape is not a good product and it does not stick over time. Conventional would be paper tape
imbedded in taping compound just like every job we have ever done.
