Re: Sewer Connection/Latecomers Agreement l
Dear Mr. Matthies:
As you know from our previous conversations I 've made a
recommendation to the City Council to waive the General
Facilities Charge, $2972. 00 , for new sewer connections where
sewers have been constructed by a Local Improvement District, or 1
where sewers have been constructed by private developers with
approved Latecomer Agreements in place. To date the City
Council has not taken formal action on my recommendation.
Understanding that it may be convenient for you to connect to
the sanitary sewer while a contractor of your choice is working
in the area, I 've asked Mayor Doyle Geer for permission to allow
you to connect to the sewer and not pay the General Facilities
Charge until such time as the matter is settled by the City
Council . If the Council ultimately decides that it' s not in the
best interest of the community to waive that charge, it would
have to be paid.
The total Latecomer Agreement affecting your property is in the
amount of $5 ,194 .50 . Per my letter dated August 14 , 1992, only
half that amount or $2597 .25 would be due for the connection of
the existing residence. Should another home be developed on
that site at a later date, payment of the remaining half will be
required. In addition to the latecomer fee a sewer inspection
fee in the amount of $50 is also payable prior to connection.

return this letter at your earliest convenience. I've
tentatively scheduled discussion on the Sewer Ordinance for the
Council' s September 27th Study Session. The earliest any formal
action could be taken by the Council is probably October 4th.
