HomeMy WebLinkAboutIL004 Interlocal Agreement July 28,200-7 3COT Memorandum of Understanding This Memorandum of Understanding is between the City of Anacortes and the Guemes Fire Department, Fire District#17. Re: Mutual benefit purchase of Power Lift Gurney The parties agree to share in the purchase of a power lift gurney as follows: Section 1: The City of Anacortes utilizes Power Lift Gurneys in all of its medic units. Patients transported via ambulance from Guemes Island are normally transferred from a non-powered gurney to the ambulances power lift gurney. This adds additional movement that can cause discomfort for the patient as well as take more time in delivering the patient to the Hospital. Section 2: The Guemes Fire Department hereafter referred to as the "District" provides first response Basic Life Support to its residents and visitors in a remote, and uniquely situated Island in Skagit County. The City of Anacortes, hereafter referred to as the "City" is contracted to provide Advanced Life Support Services to the District's residents via a response of a water ferry to access the Island and the patients. Section 4: .A benefit is provided to patients receiving medical care from both the District and City if the patient is packaged on a power lift gurney prior to the medics arriving on scene. Once on scene, the medics can smoothly transfer the pre-packaged patient into the ambulance without having to lift and move them to a different stretcher. The medics will hand-off their empty gurney to the District for later use. Meanwhile, the City will keep the traded gurney in service for the next call on Guemes Island. Section 5: .The City and District agree that the City will provide $2,000 dollars towards the purchase of the Power Lift Gurney of similar model, and in exchange, the gurney will be rotated through the City of Anacortes.
