HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOR-1975-Sanitary Sewer Hookup - pt 982'21 September 12 , 1975 Mr. Al Beckman c/o Northwest Fur Breeders Oakes Avenue and Waterfront Anacortes , Washington Dear Al: In reference to our conversations and on-site inspection for installation of a pumped sanitary sewer line from your plant to existing City sewer main, please be advised that the City has no objection to said installation provided that only sanitary waste is pumped into our system through this line. This stipul ation is based on the fact that the engineering staff has not as yet had time to analyze your request for placing industrial waste into our system. We are confident that sanitary (i.e, domestic_ waste) can be handled with no problem but, as stated, we can not make the same statement for industrial waste, thus the above .stip- ulation. We will proceed with analysis of your request for the City to take your industrial waste and present the results to you as quickly as possible. It is my understanding that Terry Tidrington will install the sanitary line, make the necessary hookup and install necessary pumping facilities for your firm. It is further my understanding that the line will be 3" PVC Schedule 40 or greater as approved by our Inspection Department., E i As discussed, the hookup fee for your domestic service will be $250 . 00 basic fee, plus $60. 00 bond redemption fee, p lus 00 inspection fee or a total of $325 . 00 . This fee is a basic fee 'I that would be charged to a single family split level home wishing to hook up to City system. It is my understanding that you will revamp your restroom facilities. you must secure a plumbing permit for this from our Inspection Department and, as discussed with you on September 11, if the number of fixture units in your restroom facilities exceeds those found in a single family split level dwelling, an additional charge will be billed to you on the basic fee. It appears from our conversations that no extra billing will o be necessary but, I did want to advise that there is this possibility) A OMIN IS TRA T ION FIRE DEPARTMENT POLICE DEPARTMENT PUBLIC LIBRARy MUSEUM OF HISTORY P.J. As per the requirements of ordinance 1601 you would be charged for sanitary sewage 100% of the water used for your restroom facilities. In order to apply the provisions of the ordinance fairly, it will be necessary that a meter be installed to the restroom facilities separately, or that the meter be installed on your pump line. It would be my recommendation that as long as you have to revamp your present restroom facilities, that the meter be installed on the incoming line to service said restrooms. The meter should be placed in such a position as to make it readily available to our meter readers in order that you be charged the correct amount. Please contact Mr. Mike Foster, Water Superintendent, for details on installation of the meter. At such time as you and representatives of the Department of Ecology reach an agreement as to the disposal of industrial waste, we can again discuss hookup to the City ' s system. As stated above, the City will analyze your proposed industrial waste outflow and apprise you of the results. If you have any questions or wish to further discuss any of the above, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely yours, <, CITE OF ANACORTES David M. Ford, Jr. , P.E.
