City Council Minutes—March 26, 2012
At 7:00 p.m. Mayor Dean Maxwell called the continued Anacortes City Council meeting of March 5, 2012
to order. Roll call found present: Eric Johnson, Ryan Walters, Erica Pickett, Brad Adams, Bill Turner,
Cynthia Richardson and Brian Geer.
Public Hearing: Ordinance 2873 Enacting a Moratorium Extension on Interim Ordinance 2861
(Medical Marijuana Dispensaries, Collective Garden and Similar Uses/Facilities Moratorium)
Assistant Planning Director Don Measamer summarized the history of Ordinances 2861 and 2873
establishing and then extending a temporary moratorium on the establishment of Medical Marijuana
Dispensaries and Collective Gardens.
At 7:02 p.m. Mayor Maxwell opened the public hearing.
Mark Sumner, 2105 28t" Street, said he is pursuing this and would like it to be something received well in
the community. Mr. Sumner said he had spoken with Mr. Measamer and with Police Chief Bonnie Bowers
on this topic. He described it as a service to people who have disabilities and need this service. Mr.
Sumner said if this goes through his goal is to work hand in hand with the city. Mr. Turner asked Mr.
Sumner his interest in the topic. Mr. Sumner said he would run a collective garden.
No one else wishing to speak, at approximately 7:04 Mayor Maxwell closed the public hearing.
There being no further business, at approximately 7:04 p.m. the continued City Council meeting of
March 5, 2012 was adjourned.
