City Councilmembers Eric Johnson, Ryan Walters, Erica Pickett, Brad Adams, Bill Turner, Cynthia Richardson and Brian Geer were present. Resolution 1865: Authorizing Execution of Tourism Promotion Fund Contract for the Year 2013 Planning Director Ryan Larsen reported that the Tourism Promotion Fund Committee met on June 7, 2013 to discuss providing additional tourism promotion funding to the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Larsen said the Chamber requested $25,000 to attract visitors to Anacortes during the 1-5 bridge closure and temporary bridge replacement. He explained that the state has approved up to $150,000 in marketing funding for four counties affected by the bridge collapse but that those funds would not be available until later in June and in the meantime messaging to counter drastic reductions in sales was necessary immediately. He added that the chambers of commerce were working together to coordinate targeted marketing and that the City Councils of Mount Vernon and Burlington had voted to provide funding to their Chambers of Commerce for that purpose. Mr. Larsen requested Council approval of Resolution 1865 authorizing a Tourism Promotion Fund contract in the amount of$10,000 with the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Geer moved, seconded by Mrs. Pickett, to approve Resolution 1865. Mrs. Richardson and Mayor Maxwell confirmed that the$10,000 would come from fund balance in the Tourism Promotion Fund left over from the 2% hotel/motel tax from prior years. Stephanie Hamilton, Executive Director of the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce, explained which portions of the Chamber's $25,000 project proposal would be funded with a $10,000 contract. Vote: Ayes—Johnson, Walters, Pickett, Adams, Turner, Richardson and Geer. Motion carried. There being no further business, at approximately 7:15 p.m. the continued Anacortes City Council meeting of June 3, 2013 adjourned. Anacortes City Council Minutes June 10, 2013 1
