Christ Architects M.T.C.PROJECT#: 09BO56-01 ATTN: Mark Christ DATE: November 3,2009 Chandler Square ADDRESS: 810 Bennett Street PROJECT: Independent Expansion Sedro Woolley,WA 98284 PROJECT ADDRESS: STRUCT. ENGINEER: CIVIL ENGINEER: ARCHITECT: Mark E. Christ Architects CONTRACTOR: Exxel Pacific PERMIT NO.: Inspection Performed: VSI Time Onsite: —9AM Temp: —48 F Any Deficiencies Noted: ® Need Engineer's Approval ❑ Other ❑ MTC onsite at clients request to observe and test compaction of imported gravel placed on the east edge of the building pad where the removal of unsuitable native fill soils(see MTC report#F24878)exposed undisturbed native glacial till soils consisting of sandy silt with some gravel that is dense based on minimal penetration with a 5/8" round tip T-probe. The imported gravel that was brought to the site contained excess moisture and the first 12"thick lift while displaying suitable densities(between 140-145 PCF),deflected underfoot and beneath construction traffic. MTC recommends aerating the imported gravel until moisture conditioned to within 3% of optimal wind rows or scarified stockpiles, covered during wet weather, would be ideal for conditioning. Once conditioned the imported gravel should be mechanically compacted to 95%per the MDD, and assessed by MTC,Inc. In additional, MTC examined all perimeter footing sub grades west of gridline 6.5. Minimal to no penetration with a 5/8 roundtip T-probe was observed in a grey sandy silt with trace gravel. This is in agreement with the project geotechnical report and is suitable for footing sub grade. REPORTED BY: A. Wiser, Geologist sc REVIEWED BY: Brian Steele, L.E.G.
