After reviewing ESR 1035 it very clearly states in item 5.7" Evaluation of the use of Open Joist 2000 trusses as a component of fire resistive-rated roof or floor assemblies is outside the scope of this report".This is also stated in the letter dated Dec 3, 2009; the report only deals with the structural properties of the joists. However,the information provided indicates WHI certification as a 1 Hr, FR assembly consistent with ASTM—E119, also consistent with the 2006 IBC. In the past the architect has provided the WHI listing and assembly detail. The other item is sound transmission, IBC Section 1207.2 requires an STC rating of not less than 50 and an IIC rating of not less than 50. While it appears there may have been sound testing I am not able to find that information. In short, it appears the Fire Rating, with a WHI Listing, works, however the sound transmission ratings are not shown and we will need to confirm that the ratings are consistent with the 2006 IBC. Please note the architect of record will need to sign off on this as well. Structural members should bear the WHI certification mark. 4- Bridging: Continuous 2x4 lumber nailed to the bottom chord and the sides of the diagonals with 3" long nails. 5- Resilient channel: (Optional -for acoustic performance only) Rigid steel furring channels(inverted hat-type)spaced 16"on center and attached to the bottom chord by means of 2 Type W screws. Channels overlap on 10" at the end and are attached to each other by a 1'/" Type S screw. 6-Gypsum board: 1 layer of 5/8"Type X. Long edges located between joists perpendicular to the resilient channels. Short edges are staggered by 4 feet. Sheets are fastened to the resilient channels by means of 1'/2"Type S screw located 11/"away from the long edges. Screws are spaced 6" on center. Joints are taped and finished with 2 layers of compound. 7- Insulation: Insulation material is optional for acoustic and/or thermal protection.
