Arrived onsite at 11:00 a.m. at the request of general contractor to inspect the interior footings on
the south side pad.
Footings were probed using a 1/2"T probe. Areas tested were found to have I"to 2"of sand and,
in some places, even less sand before reaching the compacted pit run.
Probing penetrated 1/2"to 1" in most footings which were found to be very fine to hard with the
exception of all plumbing ditches running east and west. These areas had pit run material removed
and were backfilled with a sandy material. When hand probed,the probe penetrated several feet.
Contractor was present and it was our recommendation that all unsuitable material in the plumbing
ditch line be removed and replaced with clean pea gravel and be restrained to insure compaction.
City inspector should verify prior to concrete placement.

REMARKS: A soft spot was observed on the west edge of the 3rd E-W trench from the north. The contractor said it will
be dug out, as well as the upper 3"of the 2nd E-W footing from the pipes at the west bend to 10'to the east. A thickened
footing will be poured here. The upper 3" of sand was softened by ponding water.

Per request of contractor, MTC returned to the site to inspect the footing locations that were soft
earlier in the day(see Report of In Place Densities#D3325).
The old, saturated material was taken out of the S-E footing second in from the south where the
probe penetrated 1', and new material was placed and compacted. The area was still pumping and
yielding. The E-W footing just north of here was pumping after being hit again with the
compactor. As dry fill is not accessible, MTC recommends digging out the two spots and pouring
extra concrete in these locations.
City inspector will verify prior to concrete placement.

REMARKS: Per request of contractor, MTC performed the above IPD's on the slab and probed the inner footing trenches.
Most of the footing trenches were found firm. Two locations in the footings were found to be non-bearing. The first, located 14'
west of the wall'separating the NE pad from the NW pad, the second E-W footing from the south,was found to be soft about V
deep. MTC recommends removing the wet, soft material and either back-filling with dry material or pouring extra concrete.
The E-W footing just north of this had about 6"of soft material that did not appear saturated. MTC recommends hitting this
area again with a compactor. Both areas extend about 14'from the wall separating the NE and NW pads.
