Board of Trustees’ Meeting Minutes
August 11, 2025 9:00 am

Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Alethea.
Approval of Minutes
Minutes from July 2025 meeting were approved. Motion for approval by Jhana, second by Alethea.
Manager Updates
Jeff
• The DIS (IT inventory) report was released this week. Jeff and the tech assistants will be going over the
report to determine what equipment in the Library needs to be replaced.
• The Union representative for the Teamsters Union that we’ve worked with is no longer working for the
Union. We’re not sure yet who the replacement will be.
• The furniture has arrived in the Maritime and Teen areas.
Trish
• By popular demand, we are forming an Adult Writing Group led by our own board member, Briana and
assisted by Trish. The writing workshop last Friday led to this exciting addition to Adult Programs. The
new group will begin meeting in September.
• We are in transition with the end of summer reading and looking forward to fall programs.
Stacy
• Children’s programs are planned through the end of the year. We are looking forward to continuing the
Escape Room program, Family Place, the Winter Party, etc.
• The most popular program of the summer has been the reptile and animal programs.
• The Picture book project continues.
• Steam backpack redesign will resume in September. Most of the existing steam kits will transition to the
new backpack style, with some less popular or complicated kits retiring. The backpacks will be available
in several categories and for different age groups.
Partnership Updates
• Foundation: Jhana reported that the Foundation has nearly met their fundraising goal of $20,000 from
their spring appeal letter.
• Maritime: the furniture is in and looks great. The oversize shelf may not be long enough but we’ll see
how it goes. We will order a second one if necessary.
• Manieri: the Jazz Stage at the Anacortes Arts Festival was a huge success, as usual. 11 groups
performed over 3 days.
General Updates
• There was discussion about Genre Night. Jeff let us know that it will be back in 2027 after we do some
restructuring and planning to make sure the burden is evenly distributed among staff and volunteers.
• The Library will not be participating in the Haunted Walk or Winter Wonderland this year, but instead
doing events at the Library. Trish’s haunted CMR takeover last fall was a huge success so we will be
doing a similar format again. The Children’s programs are structured and easy to replicate with a
template and new details.
The meeting was adjourned by Alethea at 9:25 a.m.
