Anacortes. The existing overhead power, ctv, and telephone is in a 1W long 12' wide drive way easement serving the residence to the east of 101U Ave. This is the only access to this residence. This drive easement also contains landscape and gas service for 2 residences. The gas service we encountered is shallow possibly due to bed rock.Bed rock was encountered on our project less than 2 ' deep. Given the residential access and other physical and practical constraints imposed within this easement , and minor nature of work I respectfully request that on this project we be allowed by Ordinance to leave the existing electrical service overhead. We will merely be shortening its existing run by 30'+-. Sincerely Jam C1 U Chapter 15.32 UNDERGROUND UTILITIES Page I of I 15.32.090 Facilities replacement--Exemptions. All extension, rebuilds, relocations or duplications of electrical and communication facilities within the areas designated in Section 15.32.070 shall be installed underground from and after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter; provided, that minor routine maintenance, rearrangements, replacements and additions to overhead facilities be exempt. In order to complete the project the contractor, Mr. Jim Zevely needs some direction on what needs to be done. Discussion: The project requires the force main to be redirected to a lower grade, approximately 2.5 — 3' below existing. This will create a high point in the force main. In a sewage force main a high point such as this collects gas. The gas can block the pipe line causing the sewer pumps to operate at a reduced pumping rate, or not pump at all. The separation in the water column in the pipe line can also cause water hammer. To allow this project to be completed the sewer force main will need to break to gravity flow at the high point in the pipe line. This must be accomplished through the installation of a manhole, or manhole like structure, with gravity sewer continuing on to the inlet manhole for pump station #8. The follow are submitted for consideration as requirements for the contractor to proceed with this project: 1. At a minimum a thirty inch diameter structure must be installed to accept the pump station force main. This structure must be channeled for sewage flow. This is to allow the installation and retrieval of the sewer jet nozzle and camera, and/or entry to permit any work that may be required inside of this structure. C:\Documents and Settings\don\Local SettingsUemporary Internet Files\OLKAB\101 U Ave PS9 FM.doc 2. The structure shall have an internal drop directing the pumped sewage flow into the flow channeling. 3. The gravity sewer pipe from the manhole shall be 6" diameter minimum. 4. If normal minimum cover requirements for the gravity sewer cannot be met the 6" pipe shall be covered with CDF. 5. The Contractor must provide a sketch of the proposed installation; the sketch must include identification of all proposed components including sizes, elevations of the manhole, and the grade of the gravity sewer line.
