The facilities crew will begin removing the slatwall this week and will build and install the shelf units over the weekend. Jeff will stain the shelving and install the individual shelves. • Trish is applying for a grant through the Anacortes Rotary Noon club. If awarded, the funds will be used for new furniture for the Maritime area. • The consortium agreement is stuck in the COA Legal department for now. We are waiting for them to review the agreement details. Trish (presented by Jeff) • Adult programs are starting at 7 pm on Wednesdays. Upcoming programs include: o Fail-A-Bration o Elise Hooper o DW Ulsterman o Date Night with a Book o Maritime Series o Craft Night • There is piano playing in the library most Monday evenings from 5 until 6. Diana • Most teen programs are paused during construction except the Teen Writing Group. • Applications for the Teen Advisory Group are coming in. • The D&D groups remain active, both at the Library and at the school. Partnership Updates • Foundation o John had been our Foundation liaison so we will be looking for a new Board of Trustees representative. Jhana agreed to take this role and Briana will be her backup in case of scheduling conflicts. • Friends of the Library o The Friends are looking for a new fundraiser to replace the Genre Day raffle. This raffle usually brought in around $1,000. o January books on sale include health and fitness. o New FOL tote bags are on sale for $10 each o There are 5 book sales planned for 2025. o An online sign-up form is now active for volunteers in the FriendShop and for other FOL activities. o The year-end appeal brought in approx. $13,000 last year. o The Friends are applying for a grant from the Skagit Community Foundation to create a “Library of Things” o A committee has been formed to search for an appropriate CRM software program. o There is movement afoot to organize a Board of Trustees/Foundation/Friends “mixer” activity after the teen area is done. New Business • Communication Styles Activity o Jeff presented a Communication Styles activity for us to participate in. We were given a sheet of paper with 4 columns of words or phrases. We put a check mark by each word/phrase that we felt was like us, then tallied them all up for a resulting color, which corresponded to a communication style. This unofficial profile gives us an idea of how we tend to think and communicate, and offers insight into our colleagues and why we might communicate better or worse with certain people. • Recap of our privacy policy: o We do not share patron information with anyone (including spouse, parent, law enforcement) without a legal request (subpoena). This includes patron contact information as well as checkout history. ▪ One exception to this is when a student/minor’s item goes into billing, that item name is shared with the financially responsible person associated with the minor’s account. o Circulation records are retained in our system for one year by default. Patrons may choose to opt out of circulation history, or they may choose to keep the history “forever”. The regular meeting was adjourned by Courtney at 9:54 a.m. The next meeting is February 10th at 9 a.m. in the Community Meeting Room.
