HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-01-06 City Council Minutes Approved Anacortes City Council Minutes - January 6, 2025 Call to Order Mayor Matt Miller called to order the Anacortes City Council meeting of January 6,2025,at 6:00 p.m. Councilmembers TJ Fantini,Ryan Walters,Christine Cleland-McGrath,Carolyn Moulton,Bruce McDougall and Amanda Hubik were present. Councilmember Anthony Young was absent. Pledge of Allegiance The assembly joined in the Pledge of Allegiance. Announcements and Committee Reports Mayor Miller welcomed the Council back for the new year and announced that there will be an Anacortes High School Parade of Champions on Sunday,January 12th,at 11:30am. Police Officer Swearing In and Promotion Police Chief Dave Floyd introduced Officer Janet Wilson,who was promoted to the rank of Corporal.Mayor Miller then administered the oath of office to Corporal Wilson.Many members of the Police Department and family members of Officer Wilson were in attendance. Housing Authority Board Appointment Mayor Miller announced the appointment of G.Jason Wells to the Housing Authority Board,replacing Geoffrey Holmes,who resigned his position effective December 31,2024.Mr. Wells'term is effective through December 31, 2029. Mayor's Award of Merit: Officer Chad Pleadwell Chief Floyd introduced and outlined the exceptional accomplishments of Officer Chad Pleadwell as a Drug Recognition Expert. Mayor Miller presented the Mayor's Award of Merit to Officer Pleadwell. Fiber Committee Mayor Miller announced that the Fiber Committee did not meet,but had received a written update from Administrative Services Director,Emily Schuh. Public Works Committee Mr.Walters reported from the Public Works Committee meeting held earlier in the evening. The topics discussed included a four-way stop at Fourth Street and T Avenue,the forthcoming Guemes Island Ferry haul-out and associated parking changes,the Eagle View Court sewer main connection,and a contract for a falconer to deal with the seagull issue around downtown. Public Comment Mayor Miller invited the public to comment on any item not on the agenda. No one present wished to address the Council on any topic not already on the agenda. Consent Agenda Mr.Fantini moved,seconded by Ms.Hubik,to approve the following Consent Agenda items. The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. a.Minutes of December 23,2024 b. Approval of claims in the amount of$724,625.82 The following vouchers/checks were approved for payment: EFT numbers: 111305 through 111346,total$480,780.72 Check numbers: 111304 through 111367,total$210,276.04 Wire transfer numbers: 360725 through 360720,total$33,569.06 Adi ournment There being no further business, at approximately 06:15 pm the Anacortes City Council meeting of January 6,2025, was adjourned.
