Board of Trustees' Meeting
April 8, 2024 9:00 AM

Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:01 AM by Courtney.
Approval of Minutes
Minutes from the March 2024 meeting were approved. Motion for approval by John and
seconded by Briana.
Internal Updates
Trish
- Skagit Youth Reads programming in May (including Lucky Diaz event).
- April 291n through May 201n is Family Place programming.
- This week is National Library Week
- Humanities Washington talk this week about UFOs in Washington (4/10).
- DW Ulsterman program had 70 people attend and sold over 50 books and filled the
entire time with Q&A. Hopefully another one in October with his new release.
- Underwood quote still pending.
- No update on grant for mobile librarian desk or remodel of Children's Librarian Desk
to include a space for Teen Librarian
- Stacy had an "escape Camp" over spring break that went extremely well. Will likely
do it again.
Sydney
- Children's Activity Room has been updated (minus some painting) and the Board is
invited to come tour.
- Interviewing for Jhana's Library Asst position April 12tn
- Interviewing the following week for a new page.
- ALA conference manager's absences will be June 29—July 3rd
- Children's Boat named "The Jolly Reader"
Partnership Updates
Foundation
- Two 4K donations this spring including a wall tile (already engraved along with a
previous one)
- Foundation Brochure awarded to How It Works— now available at the Library.
Friends
- Book Sale this weekend ($7 per bag).
- New formed Finance Committee which is working on online income streams.
- Looking for someone to take responsibility for the Lobby display.
Manieri/Maritime-
- Monthly Maritime programming about female captain.
- Manieri Jazz walk went well.
Continuing Business:
- New Board position has not yet been posted.
- Jeff met with TJ Fantini from City Council for Library sub-committee and mostly
discussed County-Wide Library sharing plan.
- Code of Conduct:
o Board suggested to change language from "refrain from" to "do not" or similar in
the Accessibility portion in reference to micro-mobility vehicles like skateboards.
- Board slate unanimously approved as submitted. New officers as of May 2024 will be
Courtney Orrock as president, Alethea Fleming as vice-president, and Briana Alzola
Lindquist as secretary.
New Business:
- No new business at this meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 9:34 AM by Courtney.
Next meeting is Monday, May 13thth 2023 at 9 AM.
