Emergency Operations Guide This EOG has been formatted for use on handheld devices and utilizes tabs for easy reference and navigation to specific sections. This Field Operations Guide(FOG)is intended to provide structure to individuals to ensure continuity in supporting the field operations. This guide is neither prescriptive nor comprehensive. Tsunami Warning • Indicates that a tsunami is imminent and that coastal locations in the warned area should prepare for flooding. • Earthquakes over magnitude 7.0 Richter trigger a warning covering the coastal regions within 2 hours' tsunami travel time from the epicenter. • When the magnitude is over 7.5 Richter, the warned area is increased to 3 hours' tsunami travel time. Tsunami Watch The area included in the watch is based on the magnitude of the earthquake. For earthquakes over magnitude 7.0 Richter, the watch area is 1-hour tsunami travel time outside the warning zone. SPONTANEOUS VOLUNTEERS STEP 1: Volunteers may complete the EMD 024 registration form or the EMD 025 registration card. In addition, volunteers shall also complete and sign the City's Verification Form, to ensure full qualifications under WAC 118-04.
